Three Phase Distribution Boards – 400V
Three phase distribution boards are usually used and installed in heavy duty or industrial environments where electrical loading is much heavier and can be balanced out over 3 phases. With three phase distribution boards you can distribute supply to other sub mains boards both 3 phase and single phase dependent on load and requirements. You can also have separate metering options, for example other buildings or lighting.
3 phase distribution boards are typically installed in large industrial or commercial buildings, Hospitals, office blocks, Schools and University’s or where large machinery & motors are in use. Heavy duty cabling both above and below ground is often required as well as Sub mains distribution boards & MCCB’s for high power 3 phase installations.
Whether you’re looking to relocate or re-wire existing 3 phase installations or need expert advice on a new installation, we can help.
Single Phase Distribution Boards – 230V
Single phase distribution boards can be used in commercial & industrial environments or where the load is relatively light. For example, lighting, heating or electrical sockets for regular household appliances. Single phase distribution boards are generally installed in residential properties unless the property is particularly large, as it may require a greater load and require use of a 3 phase 400 volt distribution system.
Domestic Fuse Board Installation
Domestic fuse boards or fuse boxes, also known as consumer units, are pivotal to the safety of your home. Modern domestic fuse boards have a number of improved safety features by comparison to the old style fuse boards. It is now a requirement that domestic fuse boards comply with current BS 7671 17th Edition Wiring Regulations, 3rd Amendment.
One of the main differences between older fuse boards and new compliant fuse boards is that new complaint fuse boards have RCD protection (Residual Current Device). RCD’s are designed to prevent occupants from getting a fatal electric shock, something older devices do not have. Modern and compliant fuse boards are designed to offer far better fire proofing within the fuse board itself, meaning in the unlikely event that the fuse board itself caught fire the fire would be contained within the fuse board and not spread to the surrounding rooms or property.
To upgrade or install a new compliant domestic fuse board you will require the services of a qualified electrical contractor certified under Part P Building Regulations.
